Jeff Bezos Banned Powerpoints at Amazon

 November 8, 2018

By  Tom Jackobs

I read an article recently that Jeff Bezos at Amazon has banned all PowerPoint presentations from the company.  He does not want anybody having a PowerPoint presentation. Why is that do you think?

Well my idea on that is PowerPoints really bored to tears.

PowerPoint is not what sells.

Narrative that sells, a product, an idea, a thought. The narrative sells because when we tell a narrative or a story we’re making a better connection with our audience.

In fact, there was a study by a Princeton University professor who looked at the brain activity of individuals who were telling the story and those that were receiving the story. They did an fMRI, a functional MRI, and what it found was that the brain areas that were lighting up in the storyteller were the same areas that were lighting up in the receiver of the story.

There was a neuro connection between the teller and the receiver.

That story not only gets into their brain it can get into their soul.

I’m sure you can imagine that if you were being told facts and figures, and stats all day long you would be bored to tears, yet when you tell a story about someone who has been impacted by your product, or your service they get more engaged in it, and they want to learn about it a little bit more.

Once you have your prospect listening to your impact story, you can then slip in a few facts and figures to illustrate your ponts.

The biggest take away that I want you to get from this blog post is don’t be afraid of telling a story.

Whether you’re speaking to 1 person or 1000, always think about the message you want to convey, and what story will illustrate that message in a dramatic way.  Do that an you can really make a nice connection with your audience.

Stories sells.

Think about how you can create that story around the facts and the figures that you have to present, so that you can better convince people to purchase your idea, your product, your service, whatever it happens to be.

Hope that was helpful for you. Definitely make some comments below, and if you ever want to work with me on telling your story, and getting that message out with the impact of selling then definitely schedule an impact call with me at www.TomJackobs.com/impact
